Food & Crisis Support
Unexpected circumstances can affect anyone. Whether you're struggling with the rising cost of living, facing an emergency, dealing with debt, waiting for benefit payments, or simply finding it difficult to make ends meet, we can help you access the support you need.
When life becomesdifficultwe're here to help.
Our Food & Crisis Support service provides practical assistance, food support, guidance and connections to local services, helping individuals and families through difficult times while working towards longer-term stability and wellbeing.
How We Can Help
We understand that every situation is different. Our team will take the time to listen and help identify the most appropriate support available.
Support may include:
- Access to emergency food provision
- Foodbank referrals
- Crisis support and signposting
- Referrals to specialist organisations and local services

Working Towards Long-Term Stability
While emergency support can provide immediate relief, we believe lasting change comes from addressing the challenges that may have led to a crisis.
That's why our team works alongside individuals and families to explore practical solutions, maximise income, improve financial wellbeing and connect people with the right support at the right time.
Our aim is not only to help during difficult moments but to support people in building confidence, resilience and independence.
FareShare Food Distribution
As part of our commitment to supporting local people through the cost-of-living crisis, GL Communities hosts a FareShare food distribution every Monday and Friday morning. FareShare works with the food industry to redistribute quality surplus food that might otherwise go to waste, helping communities while reducing food waste.
Through the dedication of FareShare and our wonderful volunteers, fresh and ambient food is made available to local residents, providing access to affordable food and additional support when household budgets are under pressure.
The FareShare distribution helps people and families:
- Access quality surplus food
- Reduce food costs
- Access additional community support
- Reduce food waste and support sustainability
- Connect with local services and advice when needed
Our team and volunteers are always happy to offer a warm welcome and help people access wider support if they are experiencing financial hardship or other challenges.

Eco Conscious
As a charity with community at its heart, GL Communities is committed to making a positive impact for the people we work alongside while we keep our negative impact on the environment as low as we can.
