Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How can I donate?
As a charity we rely on the public donations and funding from other sources to give the community the best help and needs that it may require. We know that it is hard times for all of us at the moment, so please help us by a small donation to keep our services to the community going.
Q2. Do you charge for your debt and benefit advice?
All of our services are free. Our concern is to help you deal with the debts you face or claim the benefits you are entitled to, and charging you for advice isn’t going to ease the burden. So our counselling is free and confidential. If you live in Podsmead you can talk to an advisor via a video link at Poets Pantry, in Masefield Avenue, between 9.30 and 12.30 on Tuesdays and 9 until 11 on Thursdays and Fridays
Q3. Do you offer any volunteering opportunities?
Yes. You can do your bit for your community by helping on any of our projects at GL Communities. We are looking for people to help at our Community Growing Project, at Gloucester Motorway Services on the northbound carriageway of the M5. We have a community shed at the Phoenix Centre, where we particularly need people with woodworking skills. There are other opportunities too, if you have something to offer. Call us on 01452 505544
Q4. Can I donate items to your shop?
Yes. Our shop is based in the Trinity Centre in Norbury Avenue, Matson. It is open….. We are particularly looking for clothes and toys. Please do not leave items at the door outside opening hours. They may be contaminated by animal waste if they’re left exposed and we have to destroy any goods left outside.
Q5. Do you have any jobs?
Vacancies do become available from time to time, both at GL Communities and at our partner organisations like the Gloucestershire Gateway Trust or Gloucester motorway services. We will post any jobs on our social media – Facebook, Twitter and here on our website.
Q6. Can I hire any of your venues?
The Phoenix Centre is available for hire, and if you have an idea for a group or activity you feel could help the community, we would like to hear from you. We already host a number of events at the Ewe Space. If we have time in the schedule and we can staff it, we are open to new groups and activities.
