Fundraising Officer

Responsible to:         Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

 

Responsible for:       Fundraising Strategy

 

Liaison with              4 Themed areas for Work

 

Based at:                    Advice and Resource Centre (ARC)

 

Salary:                        Negotiable

 

Working hours:         Part time, 15 flexible hours per week (blended work can be negotiated)

 

Tenure:                      Fixed term contract for 1 year renewable subject to funding

Job Summary

To deliver an effective, compliant, and sustainable fundraising strategy for the charity, with a particular emphasis initially on developing income and sustainability with grants, trusts and has experience with Lottery applications.

To support the management team with internal and external communications for the charity, including marketing and promotion.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising

Responsibility for the design, development, and delivery of the charity’s new fundraising function:

  • Work with the CEO and management team to deliver a fundraising strategy that includes an initial focus on securing generic funding for the organisation
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and review an annual fundraising development plan to meet agreed targets.
  • Work with the Management team and service leads to identify fundraising requirements for projects or other specific purposes.
  • Research suitable potential funders and submit grant applications where relevant.
  • Make recommendations about the potential for community/individual fundraising and the options for ways that it can be achieved.

General

  • All managers carry a responsibility for safeguarding reporting.
  • Report to the CEO and Trustee Board as necessary.
  • Access training and attend seminars/ conferences as necessary.
  • Comply with all GL policies and procedures and with relevant legislation.
  • Carry out other duties which are commensurate with the post

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  1. Demonstrable, relevant experience of successful fundraising
  2. Excellent inter-personal and written communication skills
  3. Excellent administration and organisational skills
  4. The ability to develop fundraising objectives and deliver operationally against them.
  5. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software packages.
  6. Excellent presentation skills and the ability to represent GL externally
  7. Excellent numeric skills
  8. The ability to use initiative and work independently, but also to work effectively as part of a team.
  9. A positive and constructive approach to problem solving.
  10. Commitment to the aims, objectives, and policies of GL
  11. Commitment to promoting and supporting diversity
  12. Willingness and ability to travel as required
  13. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends (for which time off in lieu will be available)
