Community Shed Facilitator

RATE OF PAY                     £9.50 per hour (RLW)

HOURS:                                7 hours per week  

ACCOUNTABLE TO            Well-being Team  

LINE MANAGED BY           GL Communities – lead

LOCATION                            Primarily based at the Phoenix Centre  

EXPENSES                          Reasonable travel expenses if required

Job Summary

Certificate of proof of being educated in how to use woodworking machinery safely

Experience in working with and training others in woodworking skills

Require a DBS

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work with local people to engage in the work in the community shed
  • To be able to engage and enthuse people to be involved and use the facility
  • To support people in the community shed on projects collectively and singularly
  • To ensure that H&S is a priority
  • To support people to learn how to use the machinery
  • Complete a monthly H&S assessment as required under the H&S policy of GL Communities

Training and Qualification:


Qualification equal to a NVQ level 3 and/or Experience of working in communities.  

Experience of working in this field – asset based approach desirable

Good qualification including Maths and English above Basic Skills – desirable  

Project leadership – desirable

Skills in Coaching/Mentoring – desirable

Ability to engage and have effective communication skills – essential

IT skills – desirable
